Football: Laxey and Onchan out to secure Railway Cup spots

Castletown and Colby continue tussle at top of Division 2

Laxey and Onchan will face each other as two of three sides looking to guarantee themselves a spot in this year's Railway Cup competition during the latest Manx football clashes this weekend.

After the meeting between those two was postponed last week due to poor weather, both head into Saturday's meeting at Glen Road knowing victory would all but secure their spot in the tournament.

A win for Onchan would mathematically assure them of a place whilst Laxey have two games in hand on their visitors and sit just one point further back.

Among tomorrow's other premier league ties, top-flight leaders, Corinthians return to face Union Mills following a rest week whilst defending champions, Peel - who moved up to second six days ago - are the side without a fixture this time around.

Elsewhere, the battle rumbles on between southern rivals, Castletown and Colby at the top of Ardern & Druggan Ltd. Division 2 with just two points between them ahead of their latest tests.

Both are on the road with Castletown are due to take on Governors Athletic whilst Colby travel to Ramsey Youth Centre & Old Boys (Rycob.) who held Castletown to an entertaining 3-3 draw last week.

On Sunday (23 November) the Canada Life Women's Floodlit Cup continues with three more ties at The Bowl in Douglas.

Onchan face Peel; Malew take on a stern test in the form of Corinthians and Rushen United face the prospect of seven-time competition winners, Douglas Royal.
